Ace Truck Review: skatedaily.net
Id ridden Ventures for ten years straight and the first thing I noticed when I switched over to Indys two years ago was a quicker turn and a more responsive ollie. As it turns out, a trucks geometry in relation to how the kingpin is set on a truck has the direct ability to give the user more or less leverage for ollies. Indys provided me more leverage resulting in an easier ollie while Ventures seemed to make it a little harder to ollie. Everyone has their own beliefs.
Nonetheless, one of the main reasons I switched over to Indys, besides being able to turn, was having my friend Joey Tershay as my team manager, if you will. Hes someone whos skating I respect and I skated many, many sopts with him since moving to SF. When I first heard of his departure from Indy I was kind of bummed, but at least I was riding trucks that turned well. So when I heard that he was going to start his own truck company I was hyped. I knew that with his tenure at Indy and his all around skate abilities and ties to the industry, he would not produce a lemon.
A month or two ago, Joey handed me a set of these little gems, called Ace, and I was not let down. If gliding, turning and grinding are of importance and the essence to you as much as they are to me on a skateboard, then these trucks are for you. Aces turn just as good as Indys, but have a much slimmer design. However, beyond that, Joey made one important improvement. He found a way to lower the kingpin so that you do not get hung up on Smith grinds, something that is key to a skateboarder. So if you want to ride a light, good turning truck and youre down for Joey, give his new brainchild, Ace trucks a whirl. They look good, they turn great (just like Indys original Stage 3 geometry), they also grind like a champ, and they stand up to the harsh rigors of daily skate sessions. What more could you want?
